Key Question
All the activities in this unit enable students to answer the key question:
How does image recognition work, what are the capabilities and limitations of AI?
Knowledge statements
This is achieved by students studying 4 “Learn-it” lessons, each of which focus on one knowledge statement:
- Know what human intelligence is and how it differs from artificial intelligence.
- Know how models are trained using labelled examples.
- Know how computers represent images as data and learn patterns from that data.
- Know the capabilities, limitations and risks of AI systems that rely on image recognition.

- 4 “Learn-it” lessons with a teacher PowerPoint and student workbook.
- 1 “Make-it” lesson with assessment materials for teachers and students.
