“As an IT support specialist, I provide technical assistance to users experiencing issues with their computer systems, software, and hardware. This involves troubleshooting problems, configuring systems, and ensuring that all IT-related issues are resolved promptly. My goal is to keep technology running smoothly so that everyone can stay productive.”
Key Question
All the activities in this unit enable students to answer the key question:
How do we keep computers running smoothly by diagnosing problems, fixing connectivity issues, and maintaining system performance?
Knowledge statements
This is achieved by students studying 4 “Learn-it” lessons, each of which focus on one knowledge statement:
- Know how to troubleshoot common computer problems.
- E.g. checking connections, restarting devices, and updating drivers.
- Know how to identify and resolve common connectivity issues.
- E.g. Wi-Fi/network problems & sound input/output devices.
- Know the importance of regular system maintenance.
- E.g. performing updates and running antivirus scans to prevent issues.
- Know why the performance of a computer can be affected by insufficient resources.
- E.g. slow responses to the user indicate a lack of processing speed or RAM.
